A little clarity on privacy.
Rewind is a local Mac meeting recorder. Your original recordings and archive live on your Mac. This website does not access that archive.
Your recordings
You choose which window and audio sources to capture. Recording, playback, and archive management happen in the Mac app. Let participants know when you record a conversation.
Transcription and summaries
Processing depends on the models and services you select in Rewind. External processing may send content to the selected service. Check your settings and that service’s policies before enabling it.
Optional cloud backups in the Mac app
You can explicitly upload copies of finalized meetings to a folder in your iCloud Drive or to Google Drive after connecting it in the Mac app. Copies include media, transcripts, notes, processing results, and the manifest. Rewind does not encrypt the backup ZIP; your provider receives its contents and applies its own account, storage, and sharing policies. macOS manages iCloud synchronization. Original recordings stay in the local archive. Automatic backups are off by default and require a separate opt-in for new meetings after processing.
Google Drive permission is limited to files created or opened by Rewind. Google credentials and temporary upload addresses stay in this Mac’s Keychain. You can disconnect in the Mac app’s General Settings; this stops queued Google uploads but does not delete copies already stored in Drive. This separate native connection does not use your web account session.
Your web account
When sign-in is enabled, an identity provider authenticates you. The website uses your provider’s account identifier, name, email, and verification status to display your account. It does not store your provider’s password or retain provider access tokens.
Cookies and your session
Sign-in uses an encrypted, HTTP-only cookie for a short authorization flow and an eight-hour browser session. Signing out removes these cookies. The account preview does not create a session. The website does not include advertising trackers or analytics.
A separate home for your meetings
Signing in to the website does not upload, sync, or expose the meeting library on your Mac. Your account and your local recording archive remain separate.
